Keeping a clean house is a daunting proposition. But, if you stay on top of it with simple tips and easy tasks, it will never get to a point where it’s too overwhelming. By spending a little bit of time each day cleaning and organizing, you’ll avoid those whole-day, top-to-bottom, deep cleans we all dread. Keep reading for our top five tips!
- Kitchen: Clean as you go. When you start dinner, make sure the sink is clear and fill it with hot, soapy water. That way you can soak dirty dishes as you go and immediately wipe up spills. It will make after dinner clean-up simpler and less stressful.
- Bathroom: Keeping the bathroom clean is probably everyone’s least favorite chore. Keep a tub of cleaning wipes under the sink and do a quick wipe while you’re getting ready for bed. Wiping down the surfaces (toilet, sink, vanity, etc.) and doing a quick sweep of the floor will make everything shine without spending hours scrubbing.
- Living Room: If you have carpet, a quick dusting followed by a vacuum run always makes the room feel fresher. Also, banish clutter by keeping a storage ottoman or basket handy. When things start to pile up, stash them away until you have time to find permanent homes.
- Bedroom: A clean bed can change the entire feel of your bedroom. Wash your sheets every few weeks to keep everything feeling fresh and make an effort to make the bed each day. You’ll be surprised how big a difference it makes.
- Laundry Room: Folding laundry is typically boring, so most of the time it doesn’t happen. Instead of focusing solely on that one task, do more than one thing. Listen to music, catch up with an old friend on the phone, etc. Give yourself a few minutes to yourself to do something you enjoy and your chores will be more likely to get done.
